Release date
GTA 6 launches on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2026.
Take-Two reaffirmed the Nov. 19 date in its Aug. 7 earnings release.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick reaffirmed Nov. 19 at the company's annual stockholder meeting on Sept. 17.
Rockstar delayed GTA 6 from its fall 2025 window to May 26, 2026, on May 2, 2025.
Rockstar moved the release from May 26 to Nov. 19, 2026, on Nov. 6, 2025, saying the extra months are for polish.
Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026, at midnight local time.
Digital pre-orders can start pre-loading on Nov. 12, 2026.
The physical version is a download code in a box, available from Nov. 12, with no disc included.
GTA 6 supports 13 languages.
GTA 6 is rated M for Mature 17+ by the ESRB, PEGI 18 in the UK and R 18+ in Australia. Germany's USK and Japan's CERO ratings are still pending.
Platforms
GTA 6 is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
GTA 6 is not playable on PlayStation 4.
The PlayStation Store lists GTA 6 as PS5 Pro Enhanced, without saying what the enhancements are.
Price and editions
There are two editions: Standard ($79.99) and Ultimate ($99.99) in the US.
In the UK the Standard and Ultimate editions cost £69.99 and £89.99; in Germany, €79.99 and €99.99.
Every pre-order and purchase before Nov. 20, 2026 gets the Vintage Vice City Pack, including a '55 Vapid Stanier and the Shore Court garage.
Digital pre-orders include a free month of GTA+.
The Ultimate Edition adds 16 items that unlock chapter by chapter, including the '95 Grotti Cheetah and the Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers.
The Goodtime State: Vice City Collection is a merchandise collector's box that does not include the game.
Sony is releasing black and white GTA 6 limited-edition DualSense controllers at $84.99 from Nov. 19.
Characters
The two playable leads are Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos.
Rockstar has published official profiles for eight characters: Jason, Lucia, Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre'Quan Priest, Real Dimez, Raul Bautista and Brian Heder.
Players can switch between Jason and Lucia at almost any time, according to IGN's hands-off preview at Rockstar North.
Nurturing Jason and Lucia's relationship is optional, Rob Nelson told IGN, and they stay partners in crime either way.
Leonida, the map and the world
GTA 6 is set in the state of Leonida, with a return to Vice City.
Rockstar has named six regions: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga.
Mount Kalaga National Park sits on Leonida's northern border.
Rockstar North's Aaron Garbut told Game Informer the map is roughly twice the size of GTA V's.
Leonida has over 170 animal species, some tracked as Rare, Discoverable or Legendary.
Tropical storms and hurricanes are part of GTA 6's weather, which is localized and persistent.
GTA 6 has over 600,000 animations, Rockstar told The New York Times, against 55,000 in GTA V.
Gameplay
A Criminal Profile system tracks what sort of criminal you are, separate from the relationship, Rob Nelson told IGN.
Police respond only when a crime is witnessed or an alarm goes off, and they track your vehicle, description and whether you are a couple.
Some parked cars need tools like a key cloner or a Slim Jim, but you can always carjack a driver.
A phone scanner shows a car's locks, alarms, trackers and resale value.
Eating affects health and there are gyms to work out in, Rob Nelson told IGN.
GTA 6 has Focus, a mode Rob Nelson of Rockstar North told IGN is "very similar to 'Eagle Eye' in Red Dead Redemption 2." It helps you find things, cops included.
Money matters more than in earlier GTA games: Rob Nelson of Rockstar North told IGN some parts of the game need you to make money "to advance the mission flow."
Side activities named in Game Informer's cover story include base jumping, billiards, kayaking, mini golf, scuba diving, racing and jet skiing.
Music and radio
Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, 34 original tracks made with Atlantic Records, releases Nov. 19.
Six singles from The Album came out on Sept. 17, including tracks by Travis Scott, Morgan Wallen and Keith Richards.
GTA 6 has in-game radio and a dynamic score.
Rockstar has named six GTA 6 radio stations: Cocoteo FM, Back Country Radio, AfroBank FM, The Chamber 106.6, Flash FM and Dirty South Classics. No full tracklists yet.
Rockstar's previews of the six stations on its music page play three songs each, 18 in all, from artists such as Bad Bunny, Loretta Lynn, Asake, Black Sabbath, Charli xcx and DJ Khaled.
Rockstar calls GTA 6's radio its biggest and widest-ranging selection of in-game radio yet, with stations from Classic Rock to Talk Radio.
GTA 6 is the first GTA with on-demand podcasts. Jason and Lucia can play radio and podcasts in vehicles or on foot, through headphones or earbuds connected to their phones.

- Not announced. Rockstar and Take-Two list only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. At the Sept. 17 stockholder meeting, Strauss Zelnick said PC is becoming "more and more important" in general, with no GTA 6 plan.
- A 30 or 60 frames per second target
- Not stated by Rockstar. Headlines saying Rockstar "confirms 30fps" trace back to a YouTuber relaying a conversation, not to Rockstar.
- The time GTA 6 unlocks on Nov. 19
- Rockstar hasn't announced a launch hour. Store listings show midnight in each country's own time zone (midnight Eastern across the US), but that is store data, not an announcement.
- A download or install size
- Not announced. Numbers online are estimates.
- A "Trailer 3"
- No video with that name exists. Rockstar's third main video is An Extended Look (Aug. 27, 2026).
- GTA 6 Online or "GTA Online 2"
- Not announced, named or dated. GTA 6 is a single-player game.
- Voice actors for Jason, Lucia or anyone else
- No cast has been officially credited. Actor Stephen Root has said he is in the game but named no character.

- That figure is The New York Times' wording. Aaron Garbut told Game Informer roughly twice GTA V's map. Rockstar's own pages give no number.

- A neighboring state called Gloriana
- The name is printed on license plates in two of Rockstar's official screenshots, Vice City 09 and Lucia Caminos 03. Where Gloriana is, and whether it borders Leonida, is not confirmed.
- PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch 2 versions
- None announced. PlayStation says GTA 6 is not playable on PS4.
