GTA 6 on PC: a report says early 2027, an analyst says mid-2027, and Rockstar hasn't announced it
GamesBeat reports, citing four unnamed industry sources, that Rockstar plans GTA 6 for PC in early 2027, and analyst Michael Pachter told the BBC he expects it six to seven months after launch. Neither is official.

Grand Theft Auto VI still has no PC version, officially. Two predictions now put one in 2027.
GamesBeat reported on Oct. 13 that Rockstar Games plans to release GTA 6 on PC in the first three months of 2027, citing four industry sources familiar with the studio's plans. And Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter told BBC News that he expects the PC version six to seven months after the Nov. 19 console launch, GTA Boom and Beebom reported on Oct. 27. That would be around May or June 2027.
Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive haven't confirmed either. GTA 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the only platforms either company has named.
What GamesBeat reported
GamesBeat says it confirmed the first-quarter 2027 plan with four industry sources, all of whom asked not to be named "to avoid damaging business relationships." A Rockstar representative didn't respond to its request for comment.
That would put the PC version two to four months after the console launch, a much shorter wait than for GTA V. GamesBeat ties a quick PC release to roleplay: Rockstar bought Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM, in August 2023. FiveM is a modding framework for GTA V's PC version, so the roleplay on its servers all happens on PC.
What Michael Pachter said
Pachter gave his estimate on BBC News's Business Today, in a segment on GTA 6's business impact, according to GTA Boom. He said GTA 6 will come to PC six to seven months after launch, which would be later than GamesBeat's window. It's an analyst's prediction, not an announcement.
What Rockstar and Take-Two have said
Nothing about a PC version. Here is where they stand:
- Take-Two's release list. Its latest results, from Aug. 7, list "Grand Theft Auto VI PS5, Xbox Series X|S November 19, 2026," while naming PC for other games, such as NBA 2K27 and Judas.
- Strauss Zelnick. At Take-Two's Sept. 17 stockholder meeting, the CEO said PC is becoming "more and more important" to the company in general, Inven Global reported, without a GTA 6 plan (our story).
- Microsoft. On Oct. 6, Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball wrote that GTA 6 "will not be streaming exclusively or to PC" (our story).
Take-Two next reports results on Nov. 9, its last scheduled update before launch (our story). We'll report anything it says about PC.
How long Rockstar's last two games took to reach PC
| Game | Consoles | PC | Wait |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto V | September 2013 | April 2015 | About 19 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 2018 | Nov. 5, 2019 | Just over a year |
| GTA 6, if GamesBeat is right | Nov. 19, 2026 | January to March 2027 | Two to four months |
| GTA 6, by Pachter's estimate | Nov. 19, 2026 | Around May or June 2027 | Six to seven months |
Red Dead Redemption 2 came to PC through the Rockstar Games Launcher first and reached Steam a month later, on Dec. 5, 2019.
Playing on a PC at launch
If you own a PS5, PS Remote Play can stream GTA 6 from your console to a Windows PC or Mac; the PlayStation Store lists the game as "Remote Play supported." The game still runs on the PS5, so it isn't a PC version. Microsoft says GTA 6 won't stream to PC through Xbox. Our streaming guide has the details.
Our Is GTA 6 on PC? guide and our Is it true? page track the question, and we'll update both when Rockstar or Take-Two says anything about a PC version.
