GTA 6 system requirements: no PC specs, and which consoles run it
GTA 6 has no PC system requirements, because no PC version is announced. It runs on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S, not PS4, and Rockstar hasn't given a file size, frame rate or resolution.

Grand Theft Auto VI has no official PC system requirements, because Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have not announced a PC version. On consoles, you need a PlayStation 5, including the PS5 Pro, or an Xbox Series X or Series S. PlayStation says the game is not playable on PS4, and no Xbox One version has been announced.
GTA 6 comes out Nov. 19, 2026. Rockstar has not published a download size, a storage requirement, or a frame rate or resolution for any console. Here is what the official listings say, checked on Oct. 23, and what is still unknown.
Which consoles run GTA 6
| Console | Supported | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | Yes | Out Nov. 19, PlayStation's FAQ says |
| PS5 Pro | Yes | Labeled "PS5 Pro Enhanced"; the improvements are not specified |
| Xbox Series X | Yes | The Xbox Store lists Xbox Series X|S |
| Xbox Series S | Yes | Same listing; no differences announced |
| PlayStation 4 | No | PlayStation says it is PS5 only |
| Xbox One | Not announced | The Xbox Store lists only Series X|S |
| PC | Not announced | No PC version, so no PC specs |
Rockstar's most recent Newswire post about the game, on Oct. 15 for the Launch Trailer, again names PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. No version comes on a disc, so you don't need a disc drive. Our platforms guide covers every console, Switch 2 included.
GTA 6 PC requirements
There are none. Rockstar has published no minimum or recommended PC specs, because it has not announced a PC version.
Take-Two's latest quarterly results, from Aug. 7, list GTA 6 for "PS5, Xbox Series X|S" and list PC for other games, such as NBA 2K27 and Judas. Asked about the timing of Take-Two's PC releases at the company's Sept. 17 stockholder meeting, CEO Strauss Zelnick said PC is becoming "more and more important," Inven Global reported. He did not announce a PC version of GTA 6. On Oct. 6, Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball wrote on X that the game "will not be streaming exclusively or to PC."
If you own a PS5, Remote Play is an option. The PlayStation Store lists GTA 6 as "Remote Play supported," and Sony's PS Remote Play app streams games from your PS5 to a Windows PC or Mac. The game still runs on the console. See Is GTA 6 on PC? and our streaming guide.
PS5 and PS5 Pro
PlayStation's FAQ says GTA 6 is released for PS5 and PS5 Pro on Nov. 19 and "will only be playable on PlayStation 5 consoles." PlayStation's GTA 6 page and its store listing carry labels including:
- PS5 Pro Enhanced
- Offline play enabled
- 1 player
- Remote Play supported
- Vibration function and trigger effect supported (DualSense wireless controller)
The page also lists the PS5 features the game uses: Tempest 3D Audio, fast loading from the console's SSD, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on the DualSense controller, and the controller's integrated speaker.
A PS5 Pro is not required. Sony uses the "PS5 Pro Enhanced" label for PS5 games enhanced for the Pro, and its PS5 Pro page says the enhanced features "will vary by game." Neither Sony nor Rockstar has said what they are for GTA 6, and no PS5 Pro resolution, frame rate or graphics mode has been announced.
Xbox Series X and Series S
The Xbox Store lists GTA 6 for Xbox Series X|S under "Play with," with the capabilities "Single player" and "Optimized for Xbox Series X|S." That covers both consoles, Series S included.
Rockstar has not said whether GTA 6 looks or runs differently on the Series S than on the Series X. No Xbox One version has been announced.
Frame rate and resolution
No frame rate or resolution has been announced for any console: not for the PS5, the PS5 Pro, the Series X or the Series S. TechRadar's Aug. 28 report that Rockstar confirmed 30 frames per second rests on YouTuber Davy Jones' account of what Rockstar North's Rob Nelson told him about the game during development. Rockstar has published no frame rate. Our Is it true? page tracks that claim.
Download size and storage
Rockstar has not announced how much storage GTA 6 needs. When we checked on Oct. 23, no PlayStation Store or Xbox Store listing showed a download or install size, and neither did the Rockstar Store or any Rockstar or Take-Two announcement. Any figure you see online is an estimate; our Is it true? page tracks that claim.
What is set is when the download can start. Digital pre-orders can pre-load from Nov. 12, Rockstar says, and the Rockstar Store says the boxed version's code is there "to support pre-load on November 12." With no official size, clear plenty of space before then. Our pre-load guide has the rest.
Internet and accounts
You need an internet connection to get GTA 6, even in a box. The Rockstar Store says the physical version holds only a download code, "A disc will not be included in the box," and an internet connection and a platform account are required to download the game.
After that, the PlayStation Store lists "Offline play enabled." The fine print on PlayStation's page and the Rockstar Store says certain features "may require internet connection, Rockstar Games account registration (minimum age varies)," without naming them. Whether you need PS Plus, GTA+ or ID is covered in Does GTA 6 require ID, internet or PS Plus?
