Grand Theft Auto VI's story follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, two partners in crime in the state of Leonida. In Rockstar's own synopsis, the two have always known the odds are against them. When "an easy score goes wrong," they end up on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, caught in a criminal conspiracy that stretches across Leonida and forced to rely on each other to get out alive.
It's a single-player story with two playable leads, and one Rockstar developer's playthrough took about 80 hours. Everything below comes from Rockstar, its developers' interviews and its trailers. We don't report leaked plot details.

What is GTA 6 about?
At heart, GTA 6 is a crime story about two people and their relationship. Rupert Humphries, Rockstar's senior vice president of narrative, described it to Dazed as "a Bonnie and Clyde-type narrative," and Rob Nelson, co-studio head of Rockstar North, told the magazine the characters "aren't empty avatars."
Rockstar's synopsis opens with "Vice City, USA." The setup is the easy score that goes wrong; what the conspiracy is, who is behind it and how it ends, Rockstar hasn't revealed.
Who are Jason and Lucia?
Jason Duval grew up around grifters and crooks, according to Rockstar's profile. He did a stint in the Army trying to shake off his troubled teens, then ended up in the Keys doing what he knows best, working for local drug runners. Rockstar says he lives rent-free on the property of Brian Heder, a veteran Keys drug runner, in exchange for help with shakedowns. The Launch Trailer opens with Jason saying he got in trouble in the Army and didn't leave on good terms.
Lucia Caminos learned to fight from her father as soon as she could walk. Fighting for her family landed her in the Leonida Penitentiary, and Rockstar says sheer luck got her out; she has learned her lesson and wants only smart moves from here. Her family's past is in Liberty City. In the Launch Trailer, Jason takes a call that begins, "This is a free call from Lucia Caminos."

Where does GTA 6's story take place?
In Leonida, Rockstar's fictional state, and its biggest city, a modern-day Vice City. Leonida has six regions: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. Rockstar told Game Informer the story is designed to move players around the map. Our map guide has every place Rockstar has named.
Do your choices change GTA 6's story?
Yes, in ways Rockstar has started to describe. Game Informer's cover story reports that choices big and small shape both Jason and Lucia's relationship and the wider story, according to IGN's summary.
Their relationship is optional to build, Nelson told IGN. You strengthen it by spending time together, from playing pool to robbing stores, but they stay partners in crime either way, and how much you invest affects how their story plays out. IGN adds that you can't break the pair up.

How long is GTA 6's story?
Rockstar hasn't given an official length. The best figure so far comes from Nelson, who told The New York Times his own playthrough took about 80 hours, including the main story and some optional goals that affect the narrative. That's one developer's playthrough, not a promised completion time, and it will vary by player.

Is GTA 6's story mode co-op?
No. Rockstar calls GTA 6 "a single player experience," and PlayStation lists it for one player. No online or co-op mode has been announced; see Does GTA 6 have online?
