Is GTA 6 on Game Pass or PS Plus? What the stores say, and whether you need either to play
No. GTA 6 isn't included with Game Pass or PS Plus; both stores sell it at full price. And you won't need either to play: PlayStation lists it as offline play.

No, Grand Theft Auto VI is not on Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus. Both console stores sell it at full price, $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition in the US, and neither lists it as included with a subscription. You won't need a subscription to play it either: the PlayStation Store lists GTA 6 as offline play only, for one player.
Here's what the store listings, Microsoft, Sony and Take-Two Interactive have said, and what you'll need on Nov. 19.
Is GTA 6 on Game Pass?
No. The Xbox Store sells GTA 6 at full price, and the store's own listing data shows it isn't included with any Game Pass plan. Neither Microsoft nor Rockstar Games has announced it for Game Pass, and it isn't one of the games Microsoft publishes itself.
Cloud streaming through Game Pass hasn't been announced either. Our streaming guide has what Microsoft's Matthew Ball said about GTA 6 and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Is GTA 6 on PS Plus?
No. The PlayStation Store sells GTA 6 at full price, and its listing carries no PlayStation Plus offer. Sony and Rockstar haven't announced it for the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog or for cloud streaming on PlayStation Plus Premium.
Will GTA 6 come to Game Pass or PS Plus later?
Nobody has said. Take-Two's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, has argued for years that new full-price games don't belong in subscriptions on launch day. In 2022 he told GamesIndustry.biz he was skeptical of "making frontline console products available day and date with subscription," though older games "can make economic sense" in subscriptions once "their price has been reduced," 80 Level reported.
In 2024, discussing Microsoft's plan to put Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 into Game Pass on day one, he said "offering a frontline title with a premium price in a subscription service, day and date," would "push consumers to that subscription service for at least a period of time," but that "it won't affect [Take-Two's] decisions because [its] decisions are rational," according to PCGamesN. Neither comment was about GTA 6 by name.
Do you need PS Plus or Game Pass to play GTA 6?
No. Sony lists online multiplayer among the PlayStation Plus benefits, and Microsoft lists online console multiplayer among Game Pass's. GTA 6 has no online mode at launch, so neither applies:
- PlayStation Store: "Offline play enabled" and "Offline play only," for one player, plus "Remote Play supported," "PS5 Pro Enhanced" and "In-game purchases optional."
- Xbox Store: "Single player" and "Optimized for Xbox Series X|S."
Rockstar calls GTA 6 a single-player game, and Take-Two says GTA Online carries on with GTA V. Our online guide has more.
Do you need internet to play GTA 6?
To download it, yes. The boxed version holds a download code, not a disc, and the Rockstar Store says: "An internet connection and platform account are required to download the game." Digital pre-orders can start pre-loading on Nov. 12, a week before launch, and our pre-load guide has the details.
To play, the PlayStation Store lists GTA 6 as "Offline play enabled." Rockstar's standard fine print still says "certain game features, content, services, or functions may require internet connection, Rockstar Games account registration," so some extras may need you online.
The one subscription that comes with GTA 6
Digital pre-orders include a free month of GTA+, Rockstar's paid membership, whose benefits are for GTA Online on GTA V and its GTA+ Games Library. The PlayStation Store's listing says it "Auto-renews," so cancel it if you don't want to keep paying. Our price and editions guide has the redemption deadlines.
