Jason's life in the Keys: Brian Heder, his wife Lori, Cal Hampton and the boat yard

Rockstar Games' profile of Jason Duval leaves him in the Keys after a stint in the Army, "working for local drug runners." Two more of Rockstar's eight official profiles fill in that life: Brian Heder, the smuggler whose property Jason lives on, and Jason's friend Cal Hampton. Here is everyone around Jason in the Leonida Keys, in Rockstar's words.

Jason, in the Keys

Jason grew up around grifters and crooks, Rockstar's profile says. After the Army, where he tried to shake off his troubled teens, he ended up in the Keys doing what he knows best. Its last line hints that this life won't last: "It might be time to try something new."

The Launch Trailer opens there too, with a "Welcome to The Keys" billboard, a marina seen from above and Jason buffing a boat. More in our story on the trailer.

Brian Heder

Brian Heder is "a classic drug runner from the golden age of smuggling in the Keys," Rockstar says. He still moves product through his boat yard with his third wife, Lori, and he has been around long enough to let others do his dirty work.

That's where Jason comes in. Brian lets him live rent-free at one of his properties, so long as he helps with local shakedowns and stops by for Lori's sangria once in a while.

Rockstar's screenshots show Brian leaning on a railing with two cans in front of him, holding a package while pointing at a man in a plane, and handing Jason a handgun beside a pickup truck as a woman stands behind him. Rockstar doesn't name the woman.

Brian's Boat Works & Marina

The name Brian's Boat Works & Marina is on a sign and on a seaplane in Rockstar's screenshots, and on a sign in Trailer 2 and the Launch Trailer. Brian's profile says he runs product through his boat yard, but Rockstar hasn't said in so many words that this is it.

Lori

Lori is Brian's third wife. She is named only in his profile, which mentions her sangria. She has no profile or picture of her own, and Rockstar hasn't said whether she appears in the game.

Cal Hampton

Cal Hampton is "Jason's friend and a fellow associate of Brian's," Rockstar says. He feels safest hanging at home, snooping on Coast Guard comms with a few beers and some private browser tabs open. His profile opens with a question, "What if everything on the internet was true?", and says Cal is at the low tide of America and happy there. His casual paranoia loves company, it adds, but Jason has bigger plans.

Rockstar's screenshots show Cal and Jason having beers at a bar, playing pool, walking side by side with duffel bags and out on a boat, Jason with a fishing rod and Cal with binoculars. On his own, Cal lies on a flamingo pool float surrounded by cans and plays mini golf at a course decorated with fake alligators.

What we don't know

• How Brian, Lori and Cal fit into the story. Rockstar's setup says only that when an easy score goes wrong, Jason and Lucia end up in a criminal conspiracy that stretches across Leonida.
• Whether Jason's place in the Keys is a home base in the game. Rockstar hasn't described where Jason and Lucia live once the story starts.
• Who plays them. Rockstar hasn't named any of GTA 6's cast.
