No Nintendo Switch 2 version of Grand Theft Auto VI has been announced. GTA 6 launches Nov. 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and Nintendo isn't saying more. Asked by Variety whether GTA 6 is coming to Switch 2, Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard said: "That's going to be a conversation for Take Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time."

So the decision sits with Rockstar Games and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, and neither has mentioned a Switch 2 version.

What Nintendo said about GTA 6

Pritchard spoke to Variety for an interview published Oct. 9, nearly a year into her job running Nintendo of America. She didn't rule a Switch 2 version in or out. She did make the case that Nintendo's console is for adults too: "We have historically said that Nintendo is for ages 5 to 95, and that continues to be true." Nintendo wants "a diversity in terms of the types of experiences that you can have on the game system," she said.

That matters because GTA 6 is rated M for Mature 17+ by the ESRB and PEGI 18 in the UK. Our ratings story has the details.

What Rockstar and Take-Two have said

Only the two consoles. Rockstar's announcements have named PS5 and Xbox Series X|S since Trailer 1, and Take-Two's latest quarterly results, published Aug. 7, list the game as "Grand Theft Auto VI PS5, Xbox Series X|S November 19, 2026." Neither company has said anything about Switch 2, or about a PC version. Our platforms guide has the full list of what's confirmed and ruled out.

Rockstar's games on Nintendo consoles

Rockstar does release games on Nintendo hardware, usually years after their first launch:

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive EditionSwitchNov. 11, 2021
Red Dead RedemptionSwitchAug. 17, 2023

The Trilogy's remasters of GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas are the only GTA games on Switch. GTA V hasn't come to a Nintendo console: Rockstar sells it on PlayStation, Xbox and PC.

What we don't know yet

Cloud streaming of GTA 6 hasn't been announced for any device either; our streaming guide has what Microsoft and Sony offer, and our PC guide covers the other big missing platform.
