GTA 6 Grassrivers: Leonida's gator-filled wetlands, explained
Grassrivers is GTA 6's wild wetland region, full of gators, airboats and mangroves. Here's everything Rockstar has said and shown of it: its description, six official screenshots, the places and the wildlife.

Grassrivers is Grand Theft Auto VI's wild country: a sprawl of wetlands, mangroves and gators within sight of the Vice City skyline, and one of the six regions Rockstar Games has named in Leonida. Here's everything Rockstar has said and shown of it, from its own description to the six official screenshots, the places named so far and the wildlife.
What Rockstar says
Rockstar heads its page for the region "Welcome to the Wetlands," and calls Grassrivers "the untamable jewel of Leonida's crown." Its description: "You never know what lies beneath the surface of this primordial expanse. The gators may be the most famous attraction, but there are far deadlier predators and weirder discoveries among the mangroves."
Rockstar hasn't said what those deadlier predators are.
What the six screenshots show
Rockstar released six screenshots of Grassrivers. In order:
- Three people covered in mud posing on an airboat with a dead alligator and a wildcat, one leaning an automatic weapon on his leg and another holding a rifle. A panel on the airboat reads Airgator Airboats.
- A speedboat heading toward buildings on piers over the water, with the Vice City skyline in the distance and a water tower lettered Watson Bay.
- Seen from above, two people in an airboat surrounded by alligators, one aiming a gun at the closest.
- A helicopter and two police cars chasing a pickup truck through a swamp full of alligators, with an airboat behind them.
- Stilt houses and docks among the mangroves, with a seaplane moored and the Vice City skyline in the distance.
- A bearded man in a cap holding a gun under a wooden shelter, with an alligator hanging behind him.

Places named in Grassrivers
- Sunrise RV Park, whose painted sign is on a stilt house by the docks in the fifth screenshot.
- Watson Bay, on the water tower in the second screenshot. Rockstar's Ultimate Edition description puts Paradise Garage there, where the edition's '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy is kept.
- Brian's Boat Works & Marina, printed on the side of the seaplane moored in the fifth screenshot. The same name is on a sign behind Jason Duval and Cal Hampton in another of Rockstar's screenshots; our Leonida Keys guide has more on them.
- The Airgator airboat, named on a panel of the airboat in the first screenshot. Rockstar hasn't said whether Airgator is the boat's maker, its model or the outfit that runs it.
Rockstar's description of the region names none of these places. The names come from its screenshots and, for Watson Bay, its edition descriptions too.
Gators and other wildlife
Alligators are in four of Rockstar's six Grassrivers screenshots, and its description makes them the region's most famous residents. Game Informer reports more than 170 animal species across Leonida. Michael Kane, Rockstar's vice president of dynamic art, told the magazine that "Florida has a diverse animal ecosystem that we wanted to faithfully include," as IGN quoted him, and the settings he listed include wetlands such as swamps and the Everglades. More on the alligator page and in our animals guide.

Airboats
Airboats are in three of the six screenshots, and Game Informer's cover story lists airboating among GTA 6's side activities, according to IGN. Rockstar hasn't said where you can take one out or how it works.
On the radio
Rockstar says Back Country Radio, GTA 6's country station, has hosts MW and Delta Dawne playing "renegade country music" to the Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn and beyond. Its roving reporter, Mud Dog Mike, is a "swamp meteorologist" and Delta's "not-so-secret lover," who checks in from his Grassrivers airboat. Our radio stations guide has all six stations Rockstar has named.
What we don't know
- Exactly where Grassrivers sits. Rockstar hasn't released the map, though Vice City is on the horizon in two screenshots.
- What the "far deadlier predators" are.
- How airboating works, or where you can take an airboat out.
The rest of Leonida is in our map guide, and the city on the horizon in our Vice City guide.
