GTA 6 news roundup: ratings, the Miami HEAT, LOVE and everything from the last 30 days
Six weeks before launch, GTA 6 got its age ratings, a Miami HEAT night as Vice City and a LOVE magazine cover. Here is everything official from Sept. 7 to Oct. 7, and what is still rumor.

Six weeks before Grand Theft Auto VI comes out on Nov. 19, the past month gave it age ratings, a Miami HEAT game played as "Vice City," a LOVE magazine cover with Rockstar artwork and the first music from the game's official album. Here is everything official from Sept. 7 to Oct. 7, with links to our full stories.
Rockstar itself was quiet. Through Oct. 7, its last GTA 6 post on the Newswire was the collector's box on Sept. 24, and its newest GTA 6 video is still An Extended Look from Aug. 27, so there is no new trailer. Most of this month's news came from rating boards, partners, platform holders and the press.

Rated M for Mature
The ESRB rated GTA 6 M for Mature 17+, for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, and Use of Drugs and Alcohol, with In-Game Purchases listed as an interactive element. Rockstar's site now carries the badge, as do both US console stores. The UK PlayStation Store dropped "Provisional" from its PEGI 18 badge, and PlayStation Australia lists R 18+.
Rockstar has not said what the In-Game Purchases label covers. At the Sept. 17 stockholder meeting, Zelnick said "there's no recurrent consumer spending anticipated with regard to this launch," according to Inven Global. Our ratings story has every region.
The HEAT play as Vice City
On Nov. 18, the night before launch, the Miami HEAT will take the court as "Vice City" against the Milwaukee Bucks at Kaseya Center, the team announced Oct. 2. The 7 p.m. ET game airs nationally on ESPN, with a special court and a uniform the HEAT have never worn. The "Welcome to Vice City" sign on the arena roof was lit Oct. 1. Rockstar shared the HEAT's video on X but has made no statement of its own. Read the full story.
Rockstar's writers in LOVE
LOVE magazine's Issue 27 has a GTA 6 cover with artwork LOVE credits to Rockstar, and interviews with five Rockstar staff. Game writer Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern told LOVE the team wanted Jason and Lucia to be "vulnerable, tough, flawed." Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, described building the game through "a series of eight-week milestones," Kotaku reported from the print issue. What Rockstar told LOVE.
No exclusive streaming on Xbox
After The Verge reported on Oct. 6 that Xbox held exclusive rights to stream GTA 6 at launch, Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball posted that the game "will not be streaming exclusively or to PC." Neither Microsoft nor Rockstar has said whether GTA 6 will be on Xbox Cloud Gaming at all. More on the streaming report, and our cloud streaming guide covers what is and isn't announced.
IGN's full Rob Nelson interview
On Oct. 7, IGN published the full interview Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, gave while playing the game for IGN in July. "You can rob pretty much anything," he said, and a new haircut won't shake the police, who "will still know what you are wearing," according to Insider Gaming's report of the interview. What else Nelson revealed.
September: The Album, Take-Two, the collector's box and more
- The Album. Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album on Sept. 17: 34 original tracks made with Atlantic Records, out Nov. 19, with six singles released the same day. Our soundtrack guide lists them.
- The collector's box. The Goodtime State: Vice City Collection is merchandise, not a game edition; Rockstar says the game is "sold separately." What's in it.
- The controllers. Sony's Black and White limited-edition DualSense controllers cost $84.99 and launch from Nov. 19. The details.
- Take-Two. Zelnick reaffirmed Nov. 19 on Sept. 17 and said GTA Online will keep getting support. A day earlier he told a GamesBeat event the game still needs heavy marketing: "So, awareness is one thing; enthusiasm is another thing." What Zelnick said.
- Game Informer. Issue 382's cover story, published Sept. 29, brought over 170 animal species, tropical storms and hurricanes, and ride-share fast travel. The highlights.
- Dazed. The magazine's autumn issue, on sale internationally from Sept. 10, quotes five Rockstar staff. Rupert Humphries, Rockstar's senior vice president of narrative, called GTA 6 "a Bonnie and Clyde-type narrative." What Rockstar told Dazed.
What Rockstar still hasn't announced
- A launch hour. Store listings show midnight Eastern on Nov. 19 in the US, which is 9 p.m. Pacific on Nov. 18, but that comes from store data, not from Rockstar. Our release time guide has the store times by country, and our countdown runs to the start of Nov. 19 where you are.
- A file size. No official download or install size exists yet. Our pre-load guide will have it when one is announced.
- Radio tracklists. Rockstar promised news on "the dynamic score, the next evolution of in-game radio, and more" on Sept. 17. A day after this roundup, it named six radio stations, and its preview of each station plays three songs, but there is no full tracklist yet.
- A PC version or an online mode. Neither has been announced. See Is GTA 6 on PC? and Does GTA 6 have online?.
Rumors from the past month
None of these comes from Rockstar or Take-Two. We check claims like these on Is it true?.
- A GTA 6 TV ad in October. A "GTA VI TV SPOT" line on a leaked Fox affiliate schedule was reported Oct. 6, with no air date. Rockstar has not commented.
- A Discord promotion. Dataminers posted a possible GTA 6 promotion on Oct. 7. Neither Discord nor Rockstar has announced it.
- Multiplayer in 2027. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy told Bloomberg he expects GTA 6 multiplayer next year. That is not a Rockstar or Take-Two statement.
- File sizes. Estimates online are guesses. An Xbox Store data field showing about 345 MB is a placeholder, not the game's size.
- Exclusive Xbox streaming. Reported by The Verge and denied by Microsoft the same night.
Our confirmed-facts ledger lists every official fact so far, with sources.
Update log
- Oct. 8, 2026: Rockstar named six radio stations the day after this roundup, so the radio item now links to them.
- Oct. 8, 2026: The radio item now says Rockstar's station previews play three songs each; we had said no songs were out. We added two items from the period that we had missed: Dazed's GTA 6 feature, on sale from Sept. 10, and IGN's full Rob Nelson interview, published Oct. 7. We also describe LOVE's cover as Rockstar artwork rather than "drawn by Rockstar," since LOVE credits the artwork to Rockstar without saying how it was made.
